Excellent System with Great Smart Features

We've been using this system for well over a year, and it's been one of the best upgrades we've made to our home. We paired it with a water softener, and the difference in our water quality was immediate. The filtration system has been reliable, easy to maintain, and replacing the filter only takes a few minutes. One of my favorite features is the SmartHQ app. It tracks filter life, monitors our household water usage, and even allows us to put the system into Vacation Mode when we're away. Broke, unable to service, and out of warranty.

The physical water flowmeter broke inside the unit. It cannot be serviced and is out of warranty. I have to completely replace it and pay for professional installation, all at my own expense.

No replacement part

I've had the product in my home for 2 years. Has worked great. I went to replaces the filter housing and dropped it. Put the housing back on and apparently the housing cracked. It was leaking everywhere. There is no replacement part for the housing. I call the help line and they told me I had to buy the whole unit as they do not provide the replacement part. That is ridiculous. This part is not the easiest to remove. There is a lot of pressure built up from the water even after shutting my main water line off and opening a faucet to relieve the pressure in the lines. The likely hood of dropping this is fairly high. Not having this housing as a replacement part is not great for a consumer.

Poor Design

Overall it™€™s a good filtration system the issue is the water pressure relief button is on top of the unit next to the power cord. After replacing my filter one time the unit shorted out because water leaked into the power port.

Horrible purchase from month one

The first issue was an immediate loss of pressure. I pull water from the street and it had no pressure within one month. Easy fix, I added a water booster! Next issue is beyond help, I cannot get the filter off. I™€™ve done everything to open the slide and it™€™s frozen in place. I have a rusty looking filter that Ive looked at for months. I™€™m strong and started to pull the actual system off the wall. Called GE and they could care less

Support and product stinks

I purchased this product 3 years ago and after the first year I had problems, I couldn™€™t turn the water off with the App. I called the support line and they said if I send it in that they would diagnose it and then possibly fix it. I thought they were nuts. It™€™s also supposed to be able to detect leaks. Twice since I™€™ve had leaks, one was a major leak and it never notified me of it. At this point I would never recommend any GE product, because the product is unreliable and the customer support stinks.

IMPORTANT - NEED EXPANSION TANK AFTER FILTER!!!!

THERMAL EXPANSION TANK. Well I installed this and the ge normal whole house filter inline and plumbed it with the ability to backflow the filters to clean filters and make then last longer.... "smart" right for a 60$ 3 month filter... Well - wrong. Both filters have a mechanism to stop reverse flow - glad all that work paid off. I would have not of bought these for my purpose. I installed on city water and did not have a need for a thermal expansion tank since pressure would push back to street. Installing GE filters make your house a closed loop and unless you want to lessen the life of all your plumbing and appliances - or even a burst due to pressure - you need to install a pressure tank tank (with relief valve) after the filter. (Yes i know expansion tanks are code for newer construction). GE needs to have this warning in their instructions and clearing on advertising material. Also the quick connect fittings are NOT designed for PEX. PEX requires and internal structure to prevent indentation. This can be solved with a short piece of copper then a sharkbite style 3/4 coupling to pex. My wif signal was weak/red about 20' away from my router so an extender may be needed - but i may also have a defective unit for the wifi. cheers.

Installed this filter and immediately noticed that the 30 micron filter was capturing red sediment in my water. Gross! Installation wasn't hard, it essentially mounts to the wall and comes with 1'' to 3/4'' PEX fittings to drop down to the 3/4'' diameter piping required by the unit. I'm coming from PVC, so I did have to get a few extra PVC to PEX fittings, but no big deal. I'm not sure how much I'll use the connected features, but the ability to monitor water usage is really cool, I probably will appreciate that! Very much looking forward to trying out the other "intermediate" and "advanced" filter cartridges as well to see what kind of nasty junk I can filter out (we are on a well).

It uses push to connect fittings, which is so much easier than having to use a bunch of tools. I also noticed that you don't need tools to change the filter, which is a huge plus. It feels good to know that the water that my family and I drink and shower in has so much of the lead and impurities filtered out. It even has wifi features on it which is so cool. This product is compact, easy to setup and install and provides an added sense of comfort to my home needs in relation to filtered water. I am amazed at how this product connects quickly with the GE phone app to produce excellent results. I highly recommend this product. The instructions are clear however my only recommendation would be to have a video link added to be able to see the full installation as my husband searched for a YouTube video to install it correctly. I didn't even know how much we needed a system like this in our home. So easy to install with the push-to-connect fittings. We live in a rural area and have issues with our water but not anymore! The smart features are so incredible and easy to use. We travel and now no more worries. We set up the notifications to alert us in case of problems. Easy to change filters. Remote shut off!! I didn't even know how much we needed a system like this in our home. So easy to install with the push-to-connect fittings. We live in a rural area and have issues with our water but not anymore! The smart features are so incredible and easy to use. We travel and now no more worries. We set up the notifications to alert us in case of problems. Easy to change filters. Remote shut off!! This is really the ideal solution to all of our needs!

we love our new whole home filteration system.

With some investigation and perseverance we got our GE home filtration system installed and working. We are very happy with how it works and the features such as the remote water shut off. This is a " smart " system so it can be run from your phone. The filter is easy to change and it even has a leak detection system.

Great technology and healthy water

The GE Smart Whole House Water Filtration System, is beauty and function. The setup is easy and straight forward with quick connect fittings for PEX and copper. For galvanized, you may want to contact a plumber. It has a rotating pivot head that allows for flexibility in install with vertical or horizontal configurations. It filters the main water supply at the point of entry. It is recommended to replace the filter about every 3 months or 20 thousand gallons. It filters down to 5 micron and reduces sediment and chlorine taste and smell. There are other filters that can remove lead etc allowing you to adjust the system to your needs. Now for the smart stuff! It has an APP and is WIFI enabled. It has alerts for a running faucet (great for when we forget to turn off the faucet our cat has been using), plumbing leaks, potential freezes and filter change alerts which is amazing!

I think this water system is pretty good. I had no problem getting it installed and workinv with a phone is good. I use it evergday. I highly recommend this product to anyone who needs good tasting water
